Hello, my name is Hillary, and I am a millennial nearing the cusp of 30. I just turned 27 in February. (Insert GIF of Kim Kardashian crying). I am married to a wonderful man from Guatemala. (Yes, I’m bilingual).  I am in the midst of a lifestyle overhaul; I am trying to establish a healthier way of life. My first goal is to lose weight: 48 pounds to be specific. My next goal is to keep it off. I love spending time with my family, hiking, camping, cooking, and baking. Recently blogging has become another fun hobby for me. This blog is mostly for me to reflect on my healthy lifestyle journey and to motivate me and keep me accountable along the way. It’s also my contribution to the growing number of women who are bravely sharing their stories with weight loss and healthy living. I want to give readers a window into what it is like for a *painfully* average young woman to lose weight and overcome destructive behavior patterns (i.e. emotional eating) in my own unique way.

What do I do for a living? I’m a special education teacher. I’ve been teaching in Baltimore City Public Schools for the past 4 years. I’m an Urban Teachers alum. (Cohort 2013!) Don’t get me started on the importance of public education and why charter schools are not the answer.

Just because I can’t help myself, here’s another article on why charter schools are counterproductive for students – especially students living in poverty.

To distract you from my blatant shading of charter schools, here are photos from my wedding:
